First off, I have been feeling so grateful for this past week off from work. It's been nice to just do things I have been meaning to do for a while and I can now check them off my list : )
Spending time with ALL my family in Houston & Dallas was so so great and I am so grateful for each one of them. Tomorrow, is NYE and I am super excited about the celebrations in order. As Steph says, a night of "epic-ness" is coming tomorrow!
Throughout the past week I feel like the Lord has given me so much HOPE. Hope for who He is and why He brought his Son into this world. Hope for the coming year and seeing His plan fulfilled in my life. Hope for perseverance as He challenges me through trials. That I will always be able to find hope even in the hardest, most frustrating things.
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." 1 Peter 3:15
When I think about this last year, where I was and where I am now, it humbles me and challenges me. Needless to say, I have quite a few "New Year's Resolutions" but that can be a post for this weekend maybe.
Hope you all have a great New Year's and are just as excited about 2011 as I am. I think it will be one for the books!!

It's Christmas... (in an NSync Christmas song tune)
Well it's Christmas Day! It's finally here...
I kept saying for the past month that I kept feeling like it wasn't Christmas but now it is here...and what a few days it has been! We came to Houston to spend time with all of my mom's family and it has been great. We started Christmas Eve with lunch at Teotihuacan (courtesy of Alli, Caitlin & Texas Monthly) and then went to the service at Terry and Jim's church. Maren sang and it was amazing - definitely left a few tears in the audience. BUT, one of the best parts of Christmas Eve was the midnight service all of the cousins went to at Houston's First Baptist - it was just really great and the message was simple - to practice the verbs of "ponder" and "praise" on Christmas Day. and every day for that matter.
It was just great to hear it put so simply...pondering why He loves us so much that he sent his son for us. Because He LOVES us that much. Completely blows my mind. And humbles me. BUT also challenges me to ponder him every day all the time.
Tonight we came to Brian and Sharon's and got to hang out with Ashlin, Connor and Donovan. Needless to say, some of the cutest kids around. Hopefully pictures to come later once I figure all of this blogging stuff out.
Late night plans - maybe Little Fockers with the cousins or watching the cowboy game? I definitely know the less painful option. Anyway, hopefully every one's Christmas was filled with joy, love, family, laughter and hopefully lots of pondering. Ponder his love for you and the ultimate sacrifice He gave by sending his Son for us.
Merry Christmas!!
P.S. I get ALL next week off and couldn't be more excited and GRATEFUL!

Who ever thought...
...that I would have a blog. BUT, it's something I have been thinking about doing for a while and when your boss makes you work 3 hours the day before Christmas Eve it leaves time for things you have been thinking about doing. So, here I am.
One of the main reasons it took me this long in the first place is because I just couldn't think of a name. I would begin to start one and then just get hung up on that part but I recently bought the Village Worship CD and have been playing it over and over again specifically the song "Your Splendor." I listen to the lyrics and I let them settle in. And I realize that is what I really want - to be filled with HIS splendor. Whether it is Christmas time or any time I want to be filled with His love and grace and I want him to be glorified.

"Fill our hearts with Your splendor
Fill our minds with Your wonder
We wanna be like You We wanna be like You
Fill our hearts with Your splendor
Fill our minds with Your wonder
We stand in awe of You We’re so in awe of You
Be glorified… Be lifted high…
Be praised Oh Lord…Be magnified
We sing to You…. Jesus, Holy One
Jesus, perfect Son
Jesus, giver of life We sing…"
Just make sure to take some time this Christmas season to truly reflect on the meaning of the season. Jesus Christ was born. Lived a life of glory and perfect example. Gave his life so that we could know and experience forgiveness.
Those things alone blow my mind.
Well, hopefully I will be back soon...MERRY CHRISTMAS YA'LL!
